Rafting on the Chattahoochee River
3 July 2010
In the summertime especially, my husband Bob and I, like to go to the Chattahoochee recreation center in metro Atlanta and rent a large raft and paddle down the river for a few hours. There are large rocks in the river, that if the water is running low, you have a tendency to get stuck on, some people park their rafts and sun on the rocks. It usually takes two and one half hours to get down river to the get out point. If the water is high and going fast, you really need to hang on, chances are there are rapids, and it usually cuts your trip down to an hour. Of course you wear life jackets, there have been a few tragedies on the river where people were not wearing their jackets and drowned when falling out of the raft.
